Cynthia Faye Heinrich “Cindy”

Cynthia Faye Fletcher was born to Ray and Hazel Fletcher (nee Turner), at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS on May 7, 1962, her grandmother Fletcher’s birthday, a fact that she was very proud of. Cindy was the youngest of three children.

Cindy’s parents moved to Milwaukee when she was about 2 years old. Cindy would always take pride in being a southern girl, but in reality, she new very little about southern culture.

Cindy met the love of her life and best friend, Donald L. Heinrich “Donny” at a bowling alley. Donny was working and Cindy was bowling. Donny almost got in trouble because he was hanging around where Cindy was instead of doing his job. The sparks were there and they knew it and the romance began. Cindy and Donny were married June 2, 1984. Cindy and Donny had a wonderful marriage each giving the love and faith needed for a good marriage. They were married for 34 years at the time of Donny’s sudden passing in 2018.

Cindy and Donny were blessed with the birth of their son David in September of 1985. Cindy’s dad was ill when David was born. She and David stayed with him during the day so her mother could continue working. David was the first grandson and provided a great deal of company for her dad. Cindy would often say she was spoiled first by her dad and then by Donny. She said that because they loved her so much. No one argued the point, that she was definitely spoiled. Loving and being loved was Cindy in a nut shell.

Cindy and Donny wanted more children, but the gestational diabetes she had with David, became worse with each miscarriage, and it appeared one child was all they were to have. Cindy’s health continued to deteriorate causing her to need a kidney transplant. Several family members were tested to see if they might be a match. Unfortunately, there was none to be found. Cindy began dialysis in 2007 having been diagnosed with end stage renal disease, ESRD. Cindy continued going to have her blood cleaned 3 times per week for nearly 14 years. It was difficult on Cindy and Donny, but their love for each other gave them the determination to make the best of the time they could share.

Donny’s passing in 2018 was hard for Cindy but her faith and knowing she would see him again helped her deal with the loss much better than family and friends expected. Cindy lived alone for over a year with the help of friends and her church family. In January of 2020 Cindy began planning the move to Mississippi, to be closer to family. The decision to move south could not have come at a worse time, COVID-19 was everywhere and the need to be quarantined along with keeping your distance and wearing a mask. Visiting family became a bad dream. Finding an affordable assisted living facility, a dialysis facility that would accept her as a new patient and transportation to dialysis 3 days a week. Then getting her packed up for the final move the 1st of May 2020 just 7 days before her 58th birthday, was Divinely directed by her Heavenly Father, Thank You! Jesus.

Jokingly Cindy was quick to tell you that she was too young to go into a nursing home, yet there were 3 residents at the Bee Hive Assisted Living that were 99 years old, Cindy became friends with each of them. Cindy even helped the employees at the Bee hive care for some of the residents that roamed around a lot. Loving and being loved Cindy was only able to get out to eat twice with family, following a visit for a doctor appointment. Cindy never got to see the inside of a Wal-Mart or a grocery store in MS. That was sad.

Cindy planned her Sundays because she was able to go to church. She is when she got her shower and her hair washed. She put on nice clothes and got ready for the live stream from church. If she couldn’t find it or it was down for any reason, she would be very disappointed. For someone with impaired vision she knew how to work her tablet to get her church services. Cindy and Donny were baptized in Jesus Name at Parkway Church in Oak Creek by pastor Frank Tamel, whom they both loved. They would move to Germantown, WI and Christian Life Church became their home and were blessed to be part of a very loving church family.
