Johnson

Catherine “Cathy” B. Johnson, 80, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin passed away after a brief illness on Friday, June 16, 2017 with family at her side. Catherine was born on June 10, 1937 in Belfast, Ireland. She was the daughter and the first born of Catherine (Toner) and John Dinnen.
In 1963, Catherine ventured to America for a one-year work assignment in Washington, D.C.  She loved to dance and would often go to the USO social events where she met the late Robert “Bob” Johnson while he was enlisted in the U.S. Army. They married in the spring of 1965. The following year, she gave birth to her daughter, Marie, born in Detroit, Michigan. And, three years later, she was blessed with her son, Robert “Sean”, born in West Allis, Wisconsin.

Cathy had a beautiful smile and feisty Irish spirit. To those who knew her, they often commented on her strength, courage and compassion. For 35 years, she dedicated her life’s purpose to taking care of others as a nursing assistant at the Mount Carmel Nursing Home located on 60th and Layton in Greenfield, Wisconsin. She took such great pride in her work that many of her patients and their loved ones looked to her as a trusted member of their family.

Through her faith in God she lived true to her Christian values. Cathy’s greatest joy in life was being a devoted mother to Marie and Sean. Throughout her life, she made tremendous sacrifices for her family’s health, safety and happiness. She was a very proud and loving grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, beautiful grandchildren, Caitlin and Ryan, and nephews Martin and Paul. She cherished her close circle of lifelong friends and the memories they shared.
