As a young child, Aunt Audrey was one of my favorite Aunts. It is funny how that happens. and why it happens to a young child. All my aunts were nice, but Aunt Audrey was different from the rest. As a child, I did not know how she was different, but she was and I liked her for it. On the very few occasions I visited her home, it seemed to be full of people having fun, laughing, joking and enjoying one another’s company. There was a hubbub and it was great! Over the years, our lives did not intersect, but I felt her kindness through her devotion to my mother, and I am grateful to her for it. She always reached out and always left a door open for my mother to pass through. I wish I had known her better.

It is certainly a rare individual whose eyes project their depth of soul. Eyes that possess the Lord’s light, that project His joy, compassion, patience, and love. A smile that backed it all up too! This picture of Audrey perfectly captures her essence and everything I remember, know and love about her! My mom always seemed to have a special relationship with Auntie Audrey, perhaps that is why I also paid closer attention to her. I will always be grateful for her generous and boundless joy and energy to bring family together whether it was for a shower of some sort, a family reunion, or every Christmas night as the relation filled her home to sing carols, eat and be merry. She was such a planner, always went that extra mile to make things special, with every event done in perfection! I have many memories of Audrey and they all encompassed her unending love of family and… her unending love of the Lord. Audrey had a faith beyond measure that she lived and shared, something i could sense as a child. It was with her hand upon my shoulder that I received the Holy Spirit in Confirmation. There was something powerful about having her there with me. I thank you Auntie Audrey for the memories of your life so well lived. I rejoice in your new Life now overflowing in God’s grace. I can only imagine the light in your eyes now! God bless this beautiful and strong woman. Eternal Peace.

Audrey was the mother of a dear friend of mine who was her daughter Ann. My friendship with Ann started in our twenties and thus overlapped with our subsequent marriages. I remember Audrey most especially for the awesome dinner that she had at her home prior to Ann and Steve’s wedding. Her home was modest but quite lovely. We had a fairly large group for the space but Audrey accommodated us all very well with table extensions in the living room. It created a very warm and inviting atmosphere for the occasion. In addition, her cooking was quite excellent! Italian overtones that I loved most especially with the salad. Upon inquiry I was told that the (unknown to me) and delicious addition was called pepperoncini. I still prefer my Italian salads this way after 40 years and always think of Audrey. I am glad that Ann had such a loving and wonderful mother!
