Aimee’ completed her worldly duties on Saturday, August 20, 2011.

Preceded in death by “a baker’s dozen” comprised of her beloved German immigrant parents, Amalia Zeitler and Michael and her ten siblings–Eleanor, Jerome “Jerry,” Alois “Ollie,” Otto, Raymond, Jeanette, Mathilde “Kay,” John, Roman, and Michael.

Survived by her dear caregiver, Volodymyr “Vlad” Chubatko, nephew, Raymond Gregory Konz-Krzyminski and other loving companions including Dan Baczanski, relatives, friends and students.

Born Amalia Frances on September 25, 1923, she grew up in the Konz family home which was adjacent to her father’s bakery on 7th and Ring and later became the location for her brothers’ business–Konz Jewelers. She graduated from Messmer High School in 1941, enlisted in US Marine Corps during WWII era, earned her BSN at Marquette University and her MSN in Nursing Education in 1954. She retired as a “full bird” Colonel from US Army in 1983. She served as a devoted nurse, Associate Chief and Chief of Nursing and Employee Educator all within VA healthcare and retired from government service on March 31, 2001 at the Milwaukee VA after 43 years. She was a long time resident of Cudahy where she devotedly cared for her mother and sister, Jeanette. She was a volunteer and benefactor at the former St Sylvester Parish and a daily participant in Milwaukee VA Vets Club. When her health turned, she resided for a year at Bradford Terrace and then came to live in her nephew’s Konz family home on the Southside. For the past 4 years she attended the Wellness Program at St. Ann’s Center 3 days a week. Finally she had a short stay at the most exceptional Milwaukee VA Palliative Care Unit where she passed onto her eternal reward.

Visitation on Mon., August 29 from 10:30am until time of mass at Clement J. Zablocki VA Hospital Chapel, 5000 W National Avenue. Catholic funeral mass at noon concelebrated by Fr. Quintin Heck and Fr. Norman Oswald.
