Allan John Skramstad, beloved husband of Kathleen (nee Drews) passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at the age of 77.
Al and Kathy were married December 8, 1969 and had 3 children, Sherry, Theresa, and Kim. Al joined the United States Army in 1966, where he earned three medals: the Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1972. In 2022, he was grateful to be included in the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight. Al spent many years working as a bus mechanic for Milwaukee County Transit System, where he then retired in 2010. Al loved Wisconsin sports, but most importantly the Milwaukee Brewers and attending games often with his brother. When Al wasn’t attending games you could find him watching the games while camping with Kathy. Kathy will always remember Al as the love of her life. Sherry, Theresa, and Kim will always remember him as their fun, loving, and caring dad. His grandchildren and great grandchildren will always remember him as the loving grump they call Papa. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gladys, and his sisters, Marlene and Darlene. He is survived by his daughters, Sherry, Theresa (Doug), and Kim (Justin); his grandchildren, Kari, Kirstin (Josh), Buster, Kenzie (Ethan); and his great-grandchildren, Brooklyn (Channing) and Jeremiah; his brothers Donald (Toni) and Phillip, along with his in-laws, Joan, Beverly, Ronald (Diana), and Betty.
The family gives a special thank you to his hospice nurse, Diana, as well as all of the staff that helped care for him at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc.
In honor of Al’s love for Wisconsin sports, we kindly ask that everyone wear Brewers or Packers gear to the memorial.

Sweetheart it’s hurts me terribal to have you not here with. Me. .we were so in love and had three beautiful daughters . I know life has to go but it hurts that you are gone .someday we will meet again. . I love you

Al, you fought a good fight for the last couple of years with no complaints. There is a void once again in our family as we have lost you; with you being one of the ‘good guys’. You leave us with memories of all the good times this family had shared. We will keep an eye on your ‘Kathy’and take care of her as you watch from above. Love, Betty XOXOXO

Uncle Al, This hurts really bad. You will always be my fun and sarcastic uncle. You had such a great heart and great advice for me.
