Agnes Legora Mitchell

nee Harmon age 92 died April 4, 2002 in Elkhorn, Walworth County, Wisconsin. Born September 6, 1909 in LaFayette Township, Walworth County, Wisconsin to parents Thomas and Ida Ludtke Harmon. Agnes attended Black Oak Grade School and East Troy High School. She married Kenneth William Mitchell on February 8, 1933 in East Troy, Wisconsin.
Agnes is preceeded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth William Mitchell in 1966, her son John Mitchell in 1999 and brothers Roy Harmon, Forrest Harmon, Thomas Harmon, Jr., Glenn Harmon, and sisters Gladys Czarnecki, Bernice Harmon and Frances Harmon. Agnes is survived by her seven children, Francis Terry Mitchell of Brookfield, Mary Richard Ladwig of East Troy, Margaret Bruce Mitchell of Elkhorn, Thomas Donna Mitchell of Waukesha, Rose Larry Neises of Kenosha, Robert Sara Mitchell of Harvard, Illinois, Alice Liberman of Upland, California; and daughter-in-law Kathy Mitchell of East Troy. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and one niece Judy Paul Jansen of Delavan, WI.
Agnes and Kenneth operated a dairy farm in the Town of East Troy for 30 years. After Kenneth’s death, she moved to the Village of East Troy. She spent most of her life in East Troy as a devoted mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church as well as their Ladies Sodality. Agnes was also an active leader in 4-H and in 1949 received a Certificate of Leadership from the Agricultural Extention Service. In 1987 she was Secretary of East Troy Senior Citizens and was an active member for many years.

Visitation will be Monday, April 8, 2002 from 10:00 – 11:00 am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church 1981 Beulah Avenue, East Troy. Funeral Mass officiated by Father John Twomey at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
