Mary L. Keaveny

Mary Lucille Keaveny (née DeGonda) passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2026, at the age of 83. Mary was the loving wife of Timothy for 61 years, the devoted mother of Molly, Meghan, and Patrick, and the proud grammy of Eddie, Franco, Ben, and Devin. Mary was a cherished sister to David DeGonda and Peggy Dolphay and is preceded in death by her parents, Luciel (née Stanek) and George DeGonda. She is further survived by other dear relatives and friends.

Mary was born in St. Paul and grew up in Le Sueur, Minnesota where she was a lifeguard, swim instructor, and cheerleader and made life-long friends. After high school, Mary went to the College at St. Catherine’s, and she met Tim, her beloved and partner in life. She supported Tim during his time as an Army officer, a doctoral student, and a college professor. In their early years, they lived in Germany and traveled throughout Europe. Together they raised their children in Laramie, Wyoming and in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mary was a mother and grammy above all else and always created a warm and nurturing home for her family. She loved to cook, decorate, be creative, plan and host parties, travel, be silly and have fun, laugh with friends, and support whatever was happening in the lives of her kids and grandkids.

Mary truly had a full and beautiful life – many joys and some tough times, too. She showed up for it all, taught by example, and shared her positive energy with everyone she came across. Though she will be so missed, her bright spirit and the love she shared lives on.

Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are appreciated by the family.
