Isolde Schwegler

(nee Terppe) Passed away peacefully April 8, 2022, age 106 years. Preceded in death by her husband Herman. Beloved mother of Leona (the late Roger) Fitzsimonds and Herman (Debbie) Schwegler.  Loving grandmother of Susan (Michael) Hedrick, Stephen (Mary Ellen) Fitzsimonds, Karen (Larry) Miller, Nancy (Andrew) DeRubertis and Eric (Amber) Schwegler.  Cherished great-grandmother of Erin (Parker) Smitherman, Leigh (Stephen Barbush) Hedrick, Elizabeth (Clinton) Edger, Patrick (Amanda) Fitzsimonds, Amy Miller, Ben DeRubertis, Vinnie DeRubertis, Raelyn Schwegler, Jolene Schwegler and Callie Schwegler.  Proud great-great-grandmother of James Smitherman, Ellie and Abby Edger, and Angela, Ryland, Taylor and Lillian Fitzsimonds.

Isolde was born in Leipzig Germany in 1915.  In 1923 the family moved to the United States of America, settling in Milwaukee.  She enjoyed a long marriage to Herman who passed away in 1992.  At that time she moved to the Arboretum Senior Community in Menomonee Falls.  For 30 years she was active in the Arboretum’s chorus, led exercise classes, worked in the library, and knitted and crocheted with a group affectionately called “The Happy Hookers.”  The community benefitted with hundreds of colorful afghans and clothing that she made and donated.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Arboretum for their kind assistance and to Sandy for driving Isolde to her appointments and to shop.  Thank you also to EastCastle Place and Legacy Hospice for their gentle and quiet care of Isolde.

The family will have a private celebration of Isolde’s life.
