Sarah Rehberg – Ziesmer

Vice President, Funeral Director

Meet Sarah Ziesmer, our Vice President and Licensed Funeral Director, whose dedication to crafting highly personalized funerals is truly boundless. With a keen eye for creativity and an artistic touch, Sarah brings a unique and unforgettable flair to every farewell she orchestrates.

Sarah first pursued Art Therapy at Mount Mary University, where she learned the healing power of creative expression and the importance of empathy in helping others. Driven by a deep desire to serve and support families, Sarah furthered her education at the Milwaukee Area Technical College, graduating with a degree in Mortuary Science in 2016.

Sarah’s journey in the funeral industry began in 2013 when she began as an apprentice. She gained invaluable experience at two local funeral homes before finding her forever home with Heritage.  Since becoming licensed in 2016, Sarah has been a pillar of support for countless families during their most challenging times. Her comforting and empathetic demeanor helps families find strength as they navigate the delicate journey of saying goodbye to their loved ones.

A Milwaukee native, Sarah proudly calls the beautiful neighborhood of Bay View home, where she resides with her husband Walt, their son Wilde, and chihuahua Igor.

When Sarah isn’t wholeheartedly dedicating herself to her vocation, she enjoys various creative pursuits.  She takes great pride in her large collection of funeral related antiques.  Sarah is always looking to grow the collection, driven by a desire to preserve the rich history of funeral service.  A podcast enthusiast, she loves immersing herself in stories and discussions that broaden her horizons. She also passionately works on her 1920’s Craftsman home, adding her personal touch and preserving its unique character.  You’ll often find Sarah exploring local flea markets and thrift stores, hunting for hidden treasures that add charm and character to her life.

In 2020, she participated in the esteemed National Funeral Director Association’s Meet the Mentors program, where she had the opportunity to learn from industry leaders and expand her knowledge even further.  In 2023, Sarah achieved yet another milestone in her career by becoming a Certified Celebrant. This distinction allows her to provide families with specialized, personalized ceremonies that honor the unique lives and stories of their loved ones.  Not only does Sarah excel in her role as a funeral director, but she also contributes to the development of future professionals in the field. As a member of the Advisory Board for the Mortuary Science program at MATC, she plays role in shaping the curriculum and guiding aspiring funeral directors.

With Sarah’s guidance, every farewell becomes a work of art, a testament to the life lived and the legacy left behind. Families can rest assured that under her care, their loved ones will be honored in the most meaningful and personalized way possible.

“Funeral service is more than a profession; it’s an integral part of who I am.  It is my privilege and passion to serve.”
