Sarah Ziesmer
Owner, Vice President, Funeral Director
Meet Sarah, Vice President and Licensed Funeral Director at Heritage Funeral Homes. Known for her dedication to deeply personalized services, Sarah combines creativity, compassion, and an eye for detail to ensure every farewell leaves a lasting and meaningful impression.
Sarah initially began her academic journey studying Art Therapy at Mount Mary University, where she discovered the healing power of creativity and empathy. That passion for helping others through difficult times eventually led her to a career in funeral service. She earned her degree in Mortuary Science from Milwaukee Area Technical College in 2016. Since starting as an apprentice in 2013, Sarah gained experience at two local funeral homes before joining Heritage, where she has become a trusted guide to families.
Born and raised in Menomonee Falls, Sarah now lives in New Berlin with her husband and son. Outside of work, she enjoys a variety of creative hobbies and is an avid collector of funeral-related antiques—reflecting her deep interest in preserving the history and evolution of the funeral profession. She’s also a devoted podcast listener and finds joy in discovering hidden treasures at flea markets and thrift stores.
Sarah’s commitment to continued growth and leadership is evident in her professional milestones. In 2020, she was selected for the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) Meet the Mentors program, learning directly from industry leaders. She became a Certified Celebrant in 2023, further enhancing her ability to craft unique, meaningful ceremonies. Most recently, she was honored to be selected for the NFDA National Emerging Leaders Program class of 2024–2025. She also serves on the Advisory Board for the Mortuary Science program at MATC, helping to shape the future of funeral service by mentoring the next generation of professionals.
With Sarah’s guidance, every service becomes a heartfelt tribute—thoughtfully designed to reflect the life, values, and story of the loved one being honored. Families can feel confident knowing their loved one is in the care of someone who truly understands the power of a meaningful goodbye.
“Funeral service is more than a profession; it’s an integral part of who I am. It is my privilege and passion to serve.”
