Michelle Lamping
Funeral Director
I began my career in funeral service in 1992 with Weiss Funeral Home on Milwaukee’s East Side while studying mortuary science at MATC. In 1994, I earned my funeral director and embalmer’s license—the same year the Suminski family acquired Weiss Funeral Home. When Suminski Weiss became part of the Heritage family in 2021, I learned to expand my horizons. I now am honored to serve families at all Heritage Funeral Home locations throughout the greater Milwaukee area including on Milwaukee’s East Side where my career began.
I currently live in Greenfield and remain an active member of Three Holy Women Parish on Milwaukee’s East Side. My life changed significantly when my husband died in 2023. His illness and death brought many challenges, but they also gave me a deeper and more personal perspective on my profession. That experience also expanded my understanding of what “family” truly means, especially through the care and support I received from my Heritage co-workers, whom I now consider family.
Outside of work, I enjoy gardening and landscaping projects—or, as I like to say, “I still enjoy playing in the dirt.” You may even see me working on the landscaping at one of the funeral homes. I also enjoy needlework, traveling, searching for treasures at thrift stores, estate sales, and flea markets, and spending time with my neighborhood “family.”
