I haven’t seen or even communicated with Chris for 31 years – but I feel this loss.
Besides going to Marquette U High School with Chris, I worked with him (at Fruit Ranch) while in high school. I remember one evening after closing time at Fruit Ranch I saw him doing someone else’s job (mopping the floors) and asked him why he was doing it. He said, and I quote, “Because it has to get done.”
Again, I haven’t been in touch with him since 1989, but I have passed on that specific lesson regarding work ethic to my own children – several times – verbatim.
I didn’t hang out with Chris outside of school or work but I could tell he was a really good guy who was going to be a difference maker, and I see here that he has done so.
I asked around for him at the MUHS 30-year reunion, but alas he wasn’t there for me to share this with him in person.
