Ruth Olga Kreishman
(Biruta Olga Kreismane)

Died to this life on Tuesday, February 20th at the age of 94, beloved wife of the late Andrew P. Kreishman. Her long and eventful life began in her native country of Latvia. There Ruth and Andrew met and married in June, 1944. Later that year during WWII, they were forced to flee the communist invasion of Latvia, winding up in Germany where they had two sons. In 1949, they immigrated to Wisconsin and eventually settled in Milwaukee.

Ruth and her late husband were deeply involved in the Latvian community in Milwaukee, helping to build the Latvian community center building as well as building connections to Latvians near and far.

Ruth also had a long and distinguished career with Marine Bank, now J. P. Morgan Chase. She rose to the position of operations office in 1982. She retired in 1985 after 31 years with the bank.

She is survived by her two sons, John (Melissa) and George (Ilze); three beloved grandchildren, Mara Kreishman-Deitrick (Erik), Peter (Mollie Monahan-Kreishman), and Maija Kreishman; and great-grandchildren Markus and Kristine Deitrick and Anna and Katherine Kreishman.

She will be especially remembered for her incredible energy, her passion for life, her steadfast faith, her love of family – and, of course, her cooking.
